The Empowered Birth Prep session

Created from my own experiences of pregnancy and birth, and from years of supporting women through postnatal care, including the Mummy MOT. Again and again, I saw the gap between what women are told about pregnancy and birth — and what their bodies are actually experiencing.

This session is shaped by my clinical background in osteopathy, anatomy and physiology, pain science, and my knowledge as a trained & cerifed hypnobirthing teacher and Mummy MOT practitioner.

The focus is simple and practical: helping women understand how their body works in pregnancy and birth, how pain is processed, and how movement, breath and the nervous system influence both labour and recovery.

The Empowered Birth Prep session is a 90-minute in-person session that combines focused antenatal education with deep physical relaxation.

What the Session Includes

• Personalised whole-body osteopathic assessment – pelvis, ribs, diaphragm, breath, tension and load transfer.

• Birth biomechanics – how your structure supports labour.

• Hormones & the nervous system – understanding and supporting the physiological cascade of labour.

• Practical breathwork & hypnobirthing tools – applied through an osteopathic lens.

And a relaxation-based pregnancy massage, designed to calm the nervous system, reduce physical tension, and allow the body to integrate what’s been learned.

My Story

I’m a women's health osteopath—and a mum of two. Like many women, I went into motherhood thinking I’d just figure it out as I went along.

After a difficult second pregnancy and labour, I was blindsided by the intensity of postnatal mental health struggles. The weight of postnatal depression was overwhelming, and like so many mothers, I felt lost, ashamed, and unsure where to turn.

That season of my life led me down a powerful path of self-discovery. I began asking the hard questions: Why was I struggling so deeply? What could have helped me? How can we do better for women?

In that search, one truth became crystal clear—the way we move through pregnancy and birth deeply influences how we recover, physically and emotionally, in the postpartum period.

It was through my clinical work with pregnant and postnatal women that I recognised a gap in how birth preparation was being approached.

Many women were receiving fragmented information — mindset in one place, movement in another, and little understanding of how their own structure and physiology influenced their birth experience.

As an osteopath, this didn’t sit comfortably with me.

That’s what led me to develop an osteopathy-led approach to birth preparation — integrating biomechanics, breath, nervous system regulation and whole-body assessment into one coherent clinical framework.

This work now underpins my birth preparation sessions and women’s health care.

The 90-minute Birth Preparation session is the first structured expression of that approach — combining education, movement and individualised assessment to support women physically and psychologically as they prepare for labour.

Over time, this framework will continue to evolve through clinical practice, ongoing professional development and collaboration within the women’s health space.
